Legendary Piano Man Billy Joel to open The Show at Agua Caliente Casino - Resort - Spa
Legendary singer and piano man Billy Joel will be the very first entertainer to take the stage at “The Show,” the new entertainment venue currently under construction at Agua Caliente Casino • Resort • Spa in Rancho Mirage, California, it was announced today.
Joel will launch The Show’s inaugural season in a grand opening celebration set for February 12, 2009. The season lineup has not yet been announced however, casino officials say the caliber of performers, combined with the facility’s amenities will thrust The Show into the national spotlight as a leader in entertainment.
“Our top priority in building The Show was to create an entertainment experience unlike any other,” said David Fendrick, Chief Operating Officer for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, which owns and operates the property. “It’s one thing to build a top-notch facility, but it won’t mean anything if you don’t put world-class entertainers on the stage. We’re doing both.”
The Show at Agua Caliente Casino • Resort • Spa will offer a variety of entertainment, including music, comedy and live sporting events including mixed martial arts and boxing.
Upon completion, the $76M venue will seat up to 2,002 guests, depending on the event. Spectacular, large-format projection screens, premium lighting, and wide, tiered seating with an excellent line of sight will make every ticket-holder feel like a VIP. Unlike other entertainment venues, a maximum of just 125 feet will stand between each guest and the stage at The Show. Box seating with catering, private restrooms and bars will also be offered.
In addition to fantastic amenities, The Show will also feature one of the most amazing acoustic experiences available today. Sound-absorbing materials have been incorporated into nearly every facet of the venue, from seat design to balcony construction, in order to assure the finest speech intelligibility and musical clarity. Upon completion, the venue will also offer a high-tech “assistive listening” system, so that even the hearing-impaired can experience excellence in entertainment at The Show.
