On Saturday, October 11, 2008, the annual Dinner in the Canyons will be held in the spectacular palm oasis of Andreas Canyon, a cultural and historic treasure unique to Palm Springs. In addition to Native-inspired gourmet cuisine, this year’s Dinner in the Canyons will feature the vocal artistry of singer/songwriter Andrea Menard, Métis, First Nations person of Canada. Ms. Menard starred in The Velvet Devil, the closing night film of the Museum’s Festival of Native Film & Culture in 2007. Ms. Menard will be accompanied by celebrity pianist Bill Marx. The evening begins with a 5:30 p.m. cocktail reception overlooking the ancestral lands of the Agua Caliente people, followed by dinner, entertainment, and a live auction under the stars among the majestic palms of the Canyon. Attire is "desert festive" - Turquoise, yes! Tuxedo, no! Proceeds of this gala fundraising event are used to help underwrite the cost of Museum exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural festivals that now annually serve 17,900 children and adults.
