The incomparable Diana Ross performs at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert on Dec. 3. Jackie Lee Houston and Harold Matzner will co-chair the event and proceeds will theater programs, including arts education activities that serve Coachella Valley schoolchildren.
"We are delighted to have Ms. Ross grace our stage for our 21st anniversary celebration," says McCallum President and CEO, Ted Giatas. "She is the consummate performer and one of the most prominent women in pop music history. Truly, the term "legendary" really fits her.
In December 2007, Miss Ross' international achievements were acknowledged In Washington, D. C. when she received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor. This honor celebrated her lustrous career of excellence in music, film, television, and theatre, as well as her cultural influences, humanitarian work, and contributions to American culture.
The concert begins at 8 p.m., preceded by cocktails and dinner at 5:30 p.m. at one of four excellent desert restaurants - Cuistot, Jillian's, Le St. Germain, and Wally's Desert Turtle.
Sponsorships are available at $750 per person ($540.00 is tax deductible), which includes dinner at one of the participating restaurants, one orchestra seat to the performance at McCallum Theatre, and a listing in the event program.
