Souplantation, celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, has tapped Randy Collins as general manager of its new La Quinta location. The restaurant, the second location in the Riverside County, is set to open in December at 79705 Highway 111 in La Quinta. Collins will oversee day-to-day operations, employee training and guest relations for the new Souplantation, which specializes in made-from-scratch soups, salads and baked goods.
Collins brings 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry to his new post. Randy has been with Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., the parent company of Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants nationwide, for over 8 years. Most recently, he served as general manager for Sweet Tomatoes in Las Vegas where he received the 2007 Rookie General Manager of the year and placed second in sales for 2007. Prior to Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., Collins served as the assistant food and beverage manager at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino. Collins attended the University of Southern Colorado and is currently a member of the Painted Desert Men’s Golfing Club, his favorite pastime.
“Randy’s experience in the restaurant industry is exactly what we were looking for to oversee our new La Quinta location,” said Carl Klein, director of operations for Souplantation. “He has managed various restaurants during the years giving him the know-how to keep things running efficiently and deliver top-notch guest service at all times.”
Souplantation’s La Quinta restaurant is 7,000 square-foot and accommodates 210 guests and will feature the company’s “contemporary farmer’s market” look.
Souplantation was founded in 1978 in San Diego, California and currently operates 110 salad buffet-style restaurants across the western, southern, and eastern portions of the United States. Souplantation features a salad bar full of seasonal vegetables and fresh tossed salads, made-from-scratch soups, hand-crafted muffins, focaccia, breads, and desserts. Restaurants are open daily for lunch and dinner and for a Sunday Breakfast featuring a variety of morning favorites in addition to regular selections. Souplantation provides its guests with an excellent value by offering unlimited access to its entire menu of high quality fresh items at a fixed price.
